According to a report compiled by UNEP, global food production could drop by as much as 25% by 2050 due to climate change, land degradation, water shortages and species infestation. "This means that the food crisis we experienced last year could be just the beginning of our troubles. And as the world's supply of oil dwindles in the next 40 years, fertilizer prices will skyrocket even more," said agricultural journalist Edward-John Bottomley.
